We give the Internet back to the people
When you first run your app, you'll be asked whether you wish to run it on a trial, pay-per-use or purchase basis.
If you choose "trial", your app will only work for 20 minutes, during which time you can use all features for free. After 20 minutes, you will no longer be able to run it and will have to opt for either pay-per-use it or purchase.
If you choose "pay-per-use", you will be prompted to choose a specific date when the app will be utilized and once payment is confirmed, you'll be able to run it on that specific day, after which you may opt for more pay-per-use or purchase.
If you choose "purchase", once your payment is processed and approved, your app will be operational forever.
* To use Neuron Subtitler, you will always need an active Internet connection. The faster the connection, the more efficient translations will be.
Can I bring you the menu?
As the app starts, you'll see this menu at the bottom of your screen.
The capitalized text is the list of voice commands you can issue when the translator is running. If for example you say "NEURON MENU", the menu will disappear. If you say it once more, it will reappear. Voice commands work only while Neuron Subtitler is listening to the microphone.
As an alternative, you can press the indicated hotkeys to perform the same functions. For example, pressing 'm' will toggle the on-screen menu.
Note: In order for Neuron Subtitler to understand what is being said, words must be pronounced clearly and with clean audio. Furthermore, to let Neuron Subtitler know when you finish a sentence, please leave a one second gap before starting a new one.
Here's what each command does:
NEURON CLEAR - Clears the screen of all subtitles
NEURON STOP - Switches to pause mode
NEURON QUIT - Exits the app
NEURON MENU - Toggles the on-screen menu
NEURON SETTINGS - Opens the settings dialog
NEURON RESET - Resets everything to default settings
NEURON PRESET - Activates loaded presets (see here)

Without further ado...
While in listen mode, say "NEURON SETTINGS" ('NEURON' is pronounced 'new - ron').
While in pause mode, press 's'.
The Settings window appears.
Behind it, the background turns translucent, so if you have a double screen setup, you can easily drag it from one screen to the next.
Now, let's examine the Settings window feature by feature...
Watch your tongue
You have two menus to choose from: the first lets you choose what language you're translating from and the second is the one we're translating to. Needless to say, you can't choose the same language from both menus.
In there, you'll find every language in the Google architecture and as new languages or dialects are added, you'll find them here.
Now hear this!
When you start listening for microphone input, you have two options: limited time listening or perpetual listening.
Since listening for mic input is a very CPU intensive operation and may slow down or even block your machine, it is recommended you always keep this button selected, so the app will translate as long as there is vocal input, after which it'll enter pause mode after 5 seconds of silence. To resume listening, press ENTER.
On the bottom left hand corner of your screen you'll see a dot. When it's green, the app is paused and waiting for input. To start listening for mic input, press ENTER. The dot will then turn red.
WARNING: When you have your screen background in transparent mode, keeping the app idle with no mic input for more than 5 seconds might turn the background opaque. Once audio starts again, the screen becomes transparent once more. No change occurs while in other background color modes.
If you are in perpetual listening mode, when you press ENTER the app starts listening. To stop listening, speak NEURON STOP.

It's absolutely font-astic!
To set the font you have two menus to choose from: the first lets you choose the font, the second, the font size.
Neuron Subtitler will fetch all your installed fonts, so as you install more, you'll find them all here.
How colorful...
After you decide whether to show either or both the original and translated phrases, you can pick for either or both a specific color.
If you choose to see both original language and the translated language, the latter appears italicized so as to better distinguish it from the original.
Here comes the fun
Neuron Subtitler doesn't limit you to placing your subtitles at the bottom of the screen. Boring! Sliders allow you to position your subtitles anywhere, decide how many lines you wish to see and where your left and right margins should be. In other words, you can place them anywhere on the screen, occupying as much or as little space as you wish.
As you tweak the sliders, you'll see a simulation on the small TV screen and behind the settings window, you'll also see it all happen in real time.
More colorful stuff
Depending on your requirements, you may decide to keep the subtitles over a transparent background, or you may wish to have them on a black background, a blue screen or a green screen (useful for chromakey effects in TV and film).
Let's hear it!
Select your audio device that will listen to the voice. It could be your computer's microphone or a connected sound card. Wither way, make sure the signal is as clean as possible, to obtain the best results.
Lastly, you have one final option: to hear the translation as well as seeing it.
You can optionally switch off the translated subtitle and only hear to the phrase, or you can have both.
Depending on the language, there may be more than one variation of voice types to choose from. Pick one from the menu and preview it with the PLAY button.
Note: Google technology is in constant evolution and whereas some languages are quicker to translate and pronounce, others are a bit slower to respond. Read the article.
Last but not least...
To make your life easier, you can save your settings so in the case of a recurring event with similar requirements, you don't have to bother resetting everything each time, but can just call up the configuraton or carry it with you to other events and load it on another Neuron Subtitler app.
Ah, one last thing!
During the same event you could have several speakers who don't necessarily communicate using the same language and you may also have specific subtitle formatting requirements for the different speakers (eg. the French orator may be on the left side of your screen, whereas the German speaker is on the right hand side). In this case you can save both configurations separately and then click the '1' button above and load the French preset, then press '2' and load the German one. During the conference, while in pause mode, simply press '1' or '2' on the keyboard to instantly load and activate that preset. And, voilà!
